MEDIATION PROCESS
Debra uses various procedures and techniques so that clients are able to have a more constructive dialogue and outcome. Debra meets with the parties and uses procedures, rules and intervention techniques to help the parties have a meaningful dialogue in which they define issues, gather information, develop options, evaluate solutions and structure an agreement.
There are various different types of mediation that may be used depending on the needs and objectives of the parties. Debra tailors the
process and her style to meet the needs of the parties. She usually uses a facilitative approach to the model known as Problem Solving Mediation, focusing primarily on settlement of designated issues of each particular case.
Debra uses a facilitated, client-centered approach and allows the parties to proceed in their own direction and at their own pace so that the process meets their needs and style; the process is tailored to meet the unique needs of the parties involved. She encourages parties to not use an evaluative approach in which the mediator acts a bit like an arbitrator proposing a solution and working hard to sell it to the parties.
